Tuffy product lives up to the name
"I spent a lot of time reviewing cargo enclosures for my 2001 TJ, which I usually drive with the top down or off. I had narrowed it down to 2 -- the Ridgeback by Diabolical, and this one. Ultimately I went with the Tuffy, mainly because the lid can be tilted up or even completely removed, while the Ridgeback's lid is bolted in place. Assembling and installing the box itself is not that hard and took less than an hour. The instructions that come with it are not great, the ones online have clearer images and are in color. The hard part was the site prep required. They tell you that you need to take out the back seat -- but what is not clear is that you also have to remove the back seat brackets. These, along with the seat belt buckles that mount into the bed floor, were pretty challenging in my 25-year-old Jeep. You'll also need some Torx wrenches. But once you have the back seat and seat belts out of the way, you can install or remove the box in a few minutes. It's very large and extremely secure, even a dedicated person with the right tools would have to work to get into it. A couple of minor design issues: While the top can be raised, lowered, and removed, the action is not very smooth, and there's no bar or hook to hold it up. There aren't any tie-down points, as there are on the Ridgeback. There are a couple of optional side-trays, which I opted not to use because they take up a lot of space and don't have any kind of closable cover. I used the mounting holes in the side of the box along with the nuts and bolts to create to some tie down points instead. Overall this is a very solid product that greatly improved security for top-down camping or road trips."
