Finicky installation and operation, but it does lock the hood.

"I found the installation to be extremely finicky: I could position it where the key turns without interfering with the grill but then the lock mechanism blocks the hood latch from opening/closing when unlocked, or I could position it where the hood latch functions correctly but I can't turn the key because it interferes with the grill. Frustrating. I spent a couple hours on it, and the best compromise I could manage was grinding down the "wings" on the key to make it narrower and then positioning the lock where the modified key clears the grill (barely) and the lock mechanism MOSTLY doesn't interfere with the hood latch. I still have to use two hands and manually guide the hod latch free whenever I open the hood. But, it DOES provide a simple and solid lock on the hood when needed, which I appreciate when leaving my Jeep at a trailhead while backpacking."

This is the only reasonably priced 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler TJ/LJ Hood Lock on the market that actually works!

When you lock it up, the Hood Lock guards the hood from being raised and protects the hood latch from being pried open.

This Tuffy enginerred Hood Lock is a simple one-piece design that secures the hood latch and deters opportunistic thieves from walking away with valuable under hood parts such as batteries, intakes, superchargers, etc.

Add a Tuffy's Camlock Dust Cover, part number 091, for added defense against the elements, sold separately.

Simple, no drilling required installation.
